Timestamping
TimeStamp server
General Overview
A timestamping server product, Dictao TimeStamp Server makes it possible to reliably indicate the time of transactions and document operations.
Numerous applications can securely rely upon DTSS to:
- Record an accurate execution time on documents, signatures, and archives
- Guarantee the existence of information at a given moment
- Guarantee the validity of a signed archive over time
- Guarantee the hours and dates of validity of certificate revocation lists (CRLs)
- Reinforce the non-repudiation of a digital signature
Benefits
Respect Standards
DTSS conforms perfectly to the standards and recommendations of the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) concerning the formats of timestamping tokens for exchanges and documents.
Proven
DTSS is proven in numerous applications (for example, the dematerialization of purchase orders, regulatory reports, authentication of European Union member countries’ Official Journals, online contract signing, and electronic trademark registration).
Functional Scope
- Creation of a timestamp token
- Enhancement of an existing digital signature
- Surveillance of local time in relation to multiple reference times : flexible configuration of time sources used, with the possibility to assure the traceability of the multiple time source synchronizations
Technical Scope
Supported signature formats
In the framework of an existing digital signature, the signature formats supported by the Dictao TimeStamp Server are the ‘advanced’ formats : XadES, PKCS #7, CMS-S/MIME (CAdES) and PDF (PAdES)
Highly available architecture
It is possible to associate several synchronized DTSS services, in order to assure high performance and availability.
Interface flexibility
DTSS offers several different interfaces, in order to allow applications to complete timestamping operations: Web Service SOAP, Web Service RFC 3161, or Connector.
The Operation of DTSS
The operation of DTSS is particularly meticulous, and allows for customization according to specific client needs and different business fields of activity.
Traceability of Actions
DTSS logs all actions related to its operation (configuration modifications, updates to the trust policies, etc.), the clock (synchronization, loss of calibration, etc.) and the management of the timestamping token.
